Snake Awareness Programme at a School in North 24 Parganas

HEAL conducted a Snake Awareness and Snake-bite Management program at Daulatpur High School in Pailan, South 24 Parganas. The school is surrounded by wetlands and snakes are often seen inside the school premises.
Our Secretary, Suvrajyoti Chatterjee interacted with students from class 5 – 10 explaining to them the various snake species that can be routinely encountered. This was followed by a discussion on how to prevent snake bites and what to do in case one happens.
Spreading awareness about snakes among kids, helps to raise a generation that instead of fearing snakes, is appreciative of them. We thank the organisers at the school for approaching us to conduct this session and we hope more schools come up with such initiatives.
