HEAL, in association with the Raja Dasgupta Memorial Trust, recently organised an Inter-School Wildlife Awareness Event on the theme “Tiger: The Royal Species”, bringing together students, teachers, and conservation practitioners for a day of learning, creativity, and dialogue.

The event opened with the symbolic watering of a sapling, an act carried out by Mrs. Swati Dasgupta of the Trust, teachers, and members of the HEAL team.
Students from Indus Valley World School, Narayana School (Park Circus), Techno India Group Public School (Garia), St. James’ School, and The Heritage School led the way through the Young Voices in Conservation segment. There were songs, virtual presentations and posters made by students of different schools – creative reflections inspired by wildlife, forests, and coexistence.

This was followed by a screening of the award-winning film by Ashwika Kapoor ‘Catapults to Cameras’ that documented HEAL’s pilot program in Jhargram where five boys from a traditional hunting community swapped their catapults for cameras. ![]()

Thoughtful questions from students sparked meaningful discussions with the HEAL team.

The day concluded with certificates, book awards for participating schools, and a renewed sense of responsibility towards protecting India’s wildlife and habitats. ![]()
