HEAL’s GreenHub Fellows Graduate
20-21 July 2024
The 3rd edition of @greenhub_central_india Festival, held in Bhopal on July 20-21, 2024, was a vibrant gathering of music, visual arts, and culture.
HEAL was delighted to attend the festival for the second time, this year as proud mentors to two Green Hub fellows, Kalyani Nayak ( @nayakkalyani ) and Mukesh Mahato ( @chitrogaon ) .
Their eight-month internship with HEAL culminated in a compelling documentary titled “Living God, Losing Abode,” centered around the severe human-elephant conflict in South West Bengal.
Our Project Officer, Rohan Ghosh , jointly presented the documentary alongside Mukesh and Kalyani at the Green Hub Central India Festival.
This documentary is one of the first attempts to provide a deep dive into the drivers of human-elephant conflict in South Bengal and the lived experiences of the local communities who endure it.
Additionally, it captures HEAL’s ongoing project in Jhargram, which aims to address the causes of conflict and promote coexistence between people and elephants.
The audience responded with great enthusiasm, recognizing the alarming situation in South West Bengal and the urgent need for sustainable solutions.
We congratulate Mukesh and Kalyani on successfully completing their internship and creating this impactful documentary. We also extend heartfelt thanks to @greenhub_india for inviting us and providing a platform to share our work and raise awareness about this critical issue.
